Also called cover art approval, sleeve artwork, visual identity approval
Your right to approve the cover art, packaging design, and visual presentation of your releases.
Watch closely
Artwork shapes public perception; label-designed artwork without artist input can misrepresent the release.
Artwork approval gives the artist control over the visual presentation of their release, cover art, back cover, booklet, digital artwork, and any imagery used in promotional materials derived from the release. Labels often have in-house design teams that may produce artwork without artist consultation.
Album art is part of the artistic statement and affects streaming thumbnail visibility, physical product appeal, and long-term brand identity. An artist without artwork approval can find their release presented in a way that contradicts their creative vision.
