Also called creative approval, artistic control, final cut, creative control
Your right to have final say over the creative content of your recordings and releases.
Watch closely
Without approval rights, the label controls the creative output that carries the artist's name.
Artistic approval gives the artist control over creative decisions, song selection, production, mix, master, and final delivered recording. Without it, the label can request re-records, reject delivered material, or alter recordings after delivery. With it, the artist retains creative authority subject to agreed technical standards.
Creative control is the foundation of artistic integrity. Labels with unrestricted approval rights can demand multiple re-records, delay delivery acceptance indefinitely, or release significantly altered versions of your work.
